A torrent or a torrent file is a computer file that contains meta data ( data about data ) about files and folders that need to be distributed and usually also a list of locations of trackers. Trackers are computers that help people in the system find each other and create efficient distribution groups called swarms. Torrents files don't contain the content that is being distributed, just the information about the files like their names, sizes, and their folder structure.
